Cast-in anchor bolts are usually considered when the anchor position can be planned before a new concrete pour. They can suit foundations and structural base plates that require a known bolt pattern. Post-installed options are considered for existing concrete or changes made after construction, but their suitability depends more closely on the concrete condition, hole position, edge distance, embedment and installation method.
The practical distinction is timing and tolerance for correction. If the foundation layout is still being designed, confirm the bolt pattern and projection against the base plate drawing before pouring. If the concrete already exists, provide the anchor type under consideration, concrete details and design loads so the connection can be checked rather than selected from size alone.
Start with the connection. Share the base-plate drawing or fixture dimensions, the number and spacing of anchors, and whether the connection carries tension, shear, overturning or a combination of loads. A bolt that fits a hole may still be unsuitable if the load path, edge distance or embedment does not work.
Match the anchor to the concrete and installation stage. New foundations may allow cast-in bolts, while existing slabs or walls may require a post-installed system. Confirm whether the concrete is cracked, damaged, reinforced, lightweight or of uncertain strength. Do not substitute a wedge, sleeve or chemical anchor for a specified anchor type without approval from the responsible designer.
Check material and finish for the environment. Indoor dry service, outdoor exposure, wet areas and chemically aggressive locations can call for different steel grades or corrosion protection. Hot-dip galvanizing may be relevant in some exposed applications, but the coating must also be compatible with thread fit, washers, nuts and the installation requirements.
Prevent ordering errors before production. Confirm thread size and length, overall bolt geometry, projection, washer and nut requirements, tolerances, packaging and any required drawings or inspection documents. As a next step, send the connection drawing, concrete condition and service environment to Hebei Wotu Fastener Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and ask which anchor configuration and documentation can be supplied for that application.
