Cast-in anchor bolts and post-installed anchors solve different site problems. Cast-in bolts are coordinated with the foundation layout before concrete placement, while post-installed systems are selected after the concrete exists and must suit the substrate, hole arrangement and applied load. Choosing the wrong category can create alignment, fixing or installation problems even when the nominal bolt size appears correct.
For cast-in work, confirm the bolt shape, thread length, projection, washer and nut arrangement, and template requirements. For an existing foundation, confirm the complete approved anchoring system rather than requesting a loose threaded rod alone.
Match the anchor to the application. Base plates for columns, machinery, pipe supports and outdoor structures can impose different tension, shear, vibration and alignment demands. Provide the base-plate drawing, anchor layout, concrete or masonry type, and the loads or design information available so the proposed anchor can be reviewed against the connection.
Specify geometry precisely. An anchor bolt request should identify the bolt form, thread size and length, bend or hook details where applicable, thread projection, plate or template arrangement, nuts, washers and any required assembly. A common mistake is to send only a diameter and total length; that can leave the supplier guessing about the part that must fit the foundation and steelwork.
Choose material and finish for the environment. Interior dry foundations, damp areas, exposed outdoor structures and chemically aggressive locations may require different material or corrosion-protection decisions. Confirm the required material grade, surface treatment, appearance and compatibility with the surrounding concrete, steel and installation conditions before comparing quotations.
Prevent site rework before ordering. Compare the quotation with the latest approved drawing, checking quantity, handed or paired arrangements, thread condition, packaging and identification. Send the drawing revision and required delivery point with the inquiry, then ask the supplier to confirm which details are included and which must be approved before production.
